Additional Information
Santalum album known to the world as Indian sandalwood, a name synonymous with fragrances like no other, can be traced back to India and Egypt (circa 3100 BC). Sandalwood is timeless, deep and mystical as India itself. A towering fragrance of dominance across all rituals and ceremonies amidst the royals in ancient India.
“Incedere” in Latin means to burn, now we know the Inception of the word ‘Incense’.
Incense has its earliest documented inception from the ancient civilisations of Egypt, Indus Valley (India) and China, the incenses were curated from a unique blend of Herbs, resins and plants such as Cinnamon and Sandalwood.
Honouring the ancient Indian civilisation we present, our collection of Ultra-Premium Artisanal incense.
Traditional Methods
The traditional Indian Incense stick formulation and curation is quite unique, the paste (masala) is hand blended, once this paste reaches the required density and consistency the same is hand rolled on to a bamboo stick. This natural dry bamboo stick that the incense paste is rolled not only provides rigidity to the Incense paste, but also acts as a natural burning agent.
The Incense paste (masala) mainly comprises of flower petal powder, Halmaddi (bark of a tree), Jigat powder (Natural Binder), Spices, Aromatic Herbs and Resins, the fragrances are added into the mix in the form of steam distilled essential oils.
Inception Bodhi has added a special twist to the formulation, this involves adding the natural ingredients of the fragrance we are emulating in either powder or paste form to further enhance its natural fragrant properties.
Our Incense and Ayurveda
Ayur (life) and veda (science) both Sanskrit words, when put together mean ‘science of life’ or Ayurveda.
Ayurveda is a natural system of medicine that has been practiced for more that 3000 years in the Indian sub-continent.
Our Incenses are created based on the five principles of Ayurveda, namely akasha (ether/space),vayu (air), agni (fire), jal (water), and prithvi (earth).
In incense terms the five elements of Ayurveda are represented by a plant/tree, relatively compared as ether (fruits), air (leaves), fire (flowers), water (stem), and earth (roots).
You will find that each and every incense blends of ours is exquisitely curated balancing all the five elements in perfect unison.
